This symposium was organized by Danone Institute International in August 2008 on the occasion of the 3rd World Congress of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepathology and Nutrition in Iguassu, Brazil. The objective of this meeting between members of the Danone international Institutes and selected guests participants was to discuss new knowledge on how essential fatty acids and iron affect brain development before and after birth and what we can do to support foetal, infant and child brain development providing optimal nutrition to mothers and children during these critical periods.
