First Programme of Nutrition Leadership for French Speaking AfricansDanone Institute International actively supported the organization of the first Programme of Nutrition Leadership for French Speaking Africans held in Ouarzazate (Morocco) in May 1-5, 2007. This 5 days programme organized in a very friendly atmosphere offered 20 future leaders in nutrition originating from nine African countries (Benin, Cameroun, Congo, Ghana, Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, Ivory Coast and Mali) with specific leadership skills, with a special focus on communication and presentation techniques, relation management, fund raising, alliance between stakeholders, nutritional strategy, nutrition advocacy programmes, etc.
“I strongly wish to become a leader in Nutrition and contribute successfully to programmes in my country as well as in Africa, by sharing my knowledge in Nutrition. This leadership programme helped me to define a clear vision of my role and define means to reach precise objectives. It offered also a key occasion to acquire techniques of communication as well as to build a network with nutrition experts from other African countries. I really encourage other French speaking African nutritionists to follow such programme", said Eric Amonsou from Benin, at the end of this intense training. This programme was organized in collaboration with IUNS (International Union of Nutritional Sciences), UNU (United Nation University), INF (International Nutrition Foundation) with the active support VLAG (Wageningen University), the father of the European and African Nutrition Leadership Programmes. Danone Institute International addresses a special thanks to Nada Benajiba (Morocco), Romain Dossa (Benin), Mohamed Ag Ayoya (Mali) and Fre Pepping (Netherlands) for their dedication in this initiative.
