For Teachers

Education professionals play an important role in promoting healthy eating habits among children. For this reason, Danone Institutes, in collaboration with teachers, pediatricians, dieticians and psychologists, have developed several educational tools which can be used by teachers to help children learn about nutrition.

Celebrate Healthy Eating / Guia Para Comer Saludable

Conditions of diffusion: Originally published in pamphlet form, the program has been converted into a website to broaden its availability. This website has been translated into Spanish. Both sites have downloadable materials for use by educators and parents.

Description: This nutritional education program from the Dannon Institute USA has been specifically designed for preschool children. The curriculum was distributed nationally to early childhood educators.

Danone Institute CZECH REPUBLIC

Nutrition by play - educational programme about nutrition

Description: The Danone Institute in the Czech Republic has developed a nutrition-based computer game for children aged between 7 and 10. The goal of the project is to combat childhood obesity by encouraging children to adopt healthy eating habits. The game, which shows how the body works and illustrates the differences between healthy and unhealthy foods, was developed by a multi-disciplinary team which included a pediatrician, a psychologist, and a nutritionist. The game is distributed to the public through primary schools and relevant non-profit organizations.

Eating Guide for School-age Children

Description: This folder, developed by Danone Institute Spain, provides practical nutritional advice as well as a large range of recipes for teachers and for cooks responsible for preparing meals in primary schools. 15,000 copies of this guide have been distributed free of charge with the co-operation of various Autonomous Communities and Town Halls. It is also distributed to Spanish pediatricians.
