The 6th Danone International Prize for Nutrition is awarded to Professor Jeffrey Friedman of the Rockefeller University and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, New York, USA for his outstanding research on the endocrine function of adipose tissue (fat stored in the body) which produces leptin, the hormone he discovered.
