THE DANONE INTERNATIONAL PRIZE FOR NUTRITION
Danone Institute International, a not-for-profit organization, organizes the Danone International Prize for Nutrition every 2 years with the support of the French “Fondation Recherche Médicale”.
Conceived to reward excellence, this Prize is given in the spirit of very distinguished prizes and recognizes individuals or teams that have developed novel concepts and advanced the frontiers of nutrition in either basic or applied research.
Laureates are chosen after an independent, international and consultative selection procedure that guarantees transparency and objectivity.
Laureates are awarded 120,000 Euro in recognition of research studies already published as well as to support future research.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
The Rules
The selection procedure of the Danone International Prize for Nutrition is modelled on the most renowned international prizes; It comprises a confidential nomination process and a final selection by an independent Jury. A Prize Committee responsible for all scientific aspects of the Prize ensures the proper conduct of this selection procedure. Please click on the link to download:

The Prize Committee
The Prize Committee is formed by 8 members including members from Danone Institute International and other external experts appointed by the Board. It creates the list of members of the Nomination College, solicits the proposals of the Nomination College and supervises the study of the proposals sent in by the Nomination College. Finally, it creates the list of the Jury members who can all change from one Prize to the next.
The Nomination College
It comprises representatives of the major institutions responsible for the promotion of nutrition research around the world. The role of its members is to propose names of outstanding individuals or teams eligible for the Prize. Each member may propose a maximum of two nominees, which are not from the same institution. Members cannot submit their own names and confidentiality is essential for every member. Researchers cannot apply directly for the Prize.
The Jury
The Jury consists of 7 to 9 members including members from the association “Danone Institute International” and other individuals appointed by the Prize committee as well as a member of the « Fondation Recherche Médicale ». The Jury selects one final winner (by exception 2) among the nominees by a secret majority vote. Decisions of the Jury are final.
