Danone International Prize for Nutrition
The 2007 Danone International Prize for Nutrition was awarded at the 10th European Nutrition Conference in Paris, France; The prize, which totals 120,000 euros rewards outstanding researchers in the field of Nutrition and illustrates Group Danone's commitment to health and nutrition.
The 6th Danone International Prize for Nutrition is awarded to Professor Jeffrey Friedman of the Rockefeller University and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, New York, USA for his outstanding research on the endocrine function of adipose tissue which produces leptin, the hormone he discovered.

International Symposium on Acquisition of Food-Related Behaviors in Children: Critical Windows for Later Health
In July 2007 as a pre-congress event of the 10th European Nutrition Conference in Paris, France, Danone Institute International organized a full day international symposium on the important issue of children’s nutrition. This symposium aims at presenting the most recent scientific advances on the construction of food behavior in children, reviewing the most important influencing factors and identifying potential critical windows for health. Danone Institutes are non-profit organizations whose mission is to develop and disseminate scientific knowledge on diet and nutrition to benefit public health. To accomplish these gaols, Danone Institutes support research initiatives, training programs on diet and nutrition for health and education professionals, and  disseminate information on diet and nutrition to the general public. Today, Danone Institutes are present in 16 countries and bring together more than 200 independent experts on diet and nutrition.

Danone Institutes are not-for-profit entities which link scientists involved in human nutrition with health and education professionals. They support nutrition research programs and provide diet and nutritional information including: information on eating behaviors, dietary guidelines, nutrition events and nutrition organizations. The Institutes focus particularly on, Nutrition and child development, early childhood nutrition and childhood obesity prevention.
