The BDA Paediatric Group position statement on breastfeeding and weaning onto solid foods. They comment that infants weaned at or near six months will need to be moved onto a mixed diet more quickly than those weaned earlier to ensure continued development of normal feeding behaviour and continued nutritional adequacy.

http://www.sacn.gov.uk/pdf/saltfinal.pdf
The Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition Report on Salt, published in 2003 gave for the first time, target average salt intakes for infants and children. These do not represent optimal or ideal consumption levels for infants and children but an achievable population goal. They are substantially less than current levels of intake (for example 3g/day for 4-6 year olds compared to intakes of about 5g/day currently).
